The modern Mac OS X system does not require an external or third-party management
software scheme since it has a better one built into the computer, as part of the system.
To learn how to perform some routine housekeeping, so as to not let the SSD or HDD
(storage) become too full of user-created content, files of your work etc, is part of the
issue in rationing system resources across a variety of software you may run in the Mac.
Since the OS X can use some of the free or unused storage capacity as Virtual Memory
in addition to the RAM memory chips, to reserve some of that capacity so the automatic
function of the OS X could use that as VM when it needs to, is a partial reason to not
have the hard disk drive or solid state drive too full. A full drive may also slow the Mac.

Hopefully the ability to help the computer work efficiently by simply keeping on top of
where you store project files (+ archive off the computer, in external enclosed HDD, etc)
to care of the Mac and its OS X, will allow you to have better useful product life...
Good luck & happy computing! 🙂
