Sorry, but Mavericks is not currently available for purchase because it has been supplanted by Yosemite. If you have already downloaded and installed Mavericks, then you can re-download it from your App Store's Purchases page.
If the App Store will not allow you to download Yosemite because your computer does not meet the requirements, then you also cannot install Mountain Lion nor Mavericks.
i only have lion. do you know what i can do to update on my macbook. it won't let me download new apps because i don't have 10.9 or later??
Upgrading to Yosemite
You can upgrade to Yosemite from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Yosemite can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for FREE.
Upgrading to Yosemite
To upgrade to Yosemite you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Download Yosemite from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Yosemite is free. The file is quite large, over 5 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.

Are you sure? Because Mavericks is already ancient history.

Try going to the App Store Purchases tab and see if there is a Resume for the download. Look in your Applications folder. The complete download is 5.17 GB. You may not have gotten a full download.
i do need yosemite but when i go to resume download it says The product distribution file could not be verified. It may be damaged or was not signed.
any thoughts??
Mavericks Download can’t be verified
If that doesn't work, try deleting the installer from your Applications folder and then try downloading it again.
