Input monitoring a send effect in Logic X

I've started using Logic X. OS 10.9.5. My interface is an m-audio 2626 profire.

Before I record a piece of audio, I like to rehearse the part I'm about to record while hearing whatever effects I may be using on the track.

I record enable and switch my input monitoring on. When I record I can hear the effects as expected. However if I just play the track to rehearse the performance (without recording) I can't hear the effects signal from the bus send. Though if I use the effect directly on the channel I can hear it.

In audio preferences I have 24 bit recording and software monitoring checked but not the other two.

i don't have this issue on Logic 9.

I'm sure its something obvious bny thoughts anyone?
