how to setup apple tv without apple tv remote

I lost my apple tv remote and trying to set it up for a different tv than the one i used it for when i bought it last year. i restored the apple tv device using usb to micro usb cable. I can airplay connecting apple tv to ethernet. but unable to use the remote to setup wifi and also netflix. remote app only shows iTunes but not the remote that i was able to see when i used it with older tv before.
