Q: connecting the triton 5.1 headset to an iMac
Hi everyone !
Did you guys have any experience of connecting the triton axpro+ true 5.1 headset to a macbook or an iMac?
I found out that iMac has combined analog/digital optical audio out, so i guess it will be fine to connect this headset to an iMac by usb + spdif.
But there is a little problem. Since an iMac has combined audio out (mini jack 3,5mm), i can't use original spdif cable. And there one problem solving is an adapter.
So at first, I asked the Mad Catz support team about this.
And this guys strongly recommended NOT to connect their headset through a TOSLINK - Mini TOSLINK adapter.
They wrote:
Please be advised that our PRO+ does not come with a Toslink to MiniToslink adapter.
When connected to a Mac, our headset should NOT use an adapter. So if you do not have a S/PDIF port on your iMac, we would advise you not to use the PRO+ on your iMac.
And so, my question is - should i take a risk and buy this gear? Or it is impossible to make it works together?
Thanks for your answers !
