can't share scanner with yosemite

I can install and scan from my Epson Perfection 1660 on iMac-1 but it will not show up under print sharing so iMac-2 can't see it.

I can share my Epson Printer from iMac-2 to iMac-1 with no problem.

I have File Sharing and Print Sharing checked on both computers.

There is a checkbox for sharing the printer but no checkbox for the scanner. iMac-1 has green indicator saying Printer Sharing: On - but nothing is in the list below.

When I open the "Open Printers & Scanners Preferences" button, I see the Printer being shared and the Scanner but there is no checkbox to Share the Scanner.

Both iMacs are 27" Late 2013 running Yosemite. Everything is the most current updates.

Please advise.

Les,

I've got the same problem - no checkbox for Scanner Share. Have you had any luck with this? I'm using an Epson v700 scanner and Yosemite with all the updates etc. on a Mac Pro. I'm wondering if the driver simply does not allow for a shared scanner or maybe there is a deeper issue.........? If you get a chance I would love to hear back if you've found a resolution.

I have not yet. It says "printer and scanner sharing" but I haven’t gotten any other info yet.

G'day Les,

Just got off the blower with an Apple Care support guy who said it "seems as though Scanner Sharing has been left out of Yosemite." Can't for the life of me figure out why, but there you have it. He suggested that if there were to be a flood of complaints to "Feedback" someone might take notice.

Hi,

are there any news on this subject. I was just hit by this issue myself and googling around didn't really turn up many results. A guide I could find for earlier OS versions says that you can enable Scanner Sharing via Image Captures's Preferences, but the Preferences menu item is gone in IC for Yosemite…

Confusing enough as it is, IC has an item called "Shared" in its Sidebar, but there does not seem to be a way to populate this with a shared scanner from another Mac.

Please, Apple do something about this! Why have a perfectly good feature and take it away with a new OS?

Additionally, I tried to look around for some third-party software that would let me share my scanner over the network, but I didn't find anything either.

Same problem.

Epson V600 scanner and can't share with the office over Yosemite. Seemed to work on Mountain Lion. Looks like Apple left this feature out. Hoping for the best on 10.11 but not holding my breath.

Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.
