iTunes won't recognize my iPhone 6 plus or 5s

Hello all.

I have been having a hard time with the latest version 12.0.1.26. Every time I either hook my iPhone 5S or 6 Plus up I get this error:

User uploaded file

I've uninstalled and reinstalled numerous times to no avail. Still the same message. Also so you know I am installing the 64 bit version.

I've ran a diagnostic on iTunes and it came back looking like this:

Verify that Apple Mobile Device Support is installed

iOS devices require Apple Mobile Device Support, which should be automatically installed with iTunes. To verify whether it is installed, follow the steps appropriate for your Windows operating system below.

[…] Windows Vista and Windows 7

  • Click Start.
  • Choose Control Panel.
  • Click "Uninstall a program" (or, if you're using Windows Vista's Classic View of the Control Panel, click "Programs and Features").
  • Verify that Apple Mobile Device Support is visible in the list of currently installed programs.

  • […] If Apple Mobile Device Support is not listed, remove iTunes, QuickTime, Apple Software Update, Apple Application Support, and then reinstall iTunes.

  • Reinstall iTunes for Windows XP
  • Reinstall iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8

  • If after reinstalling iTunes Apple Mobile Device Support is still not installed, learn how to resolve issues installing iTunes for Windows.

    Thanks,

Hello. First off thanks for your offer to help!

I did as you instructed and removed everything. I re-installed iTunes 64 bit and this was the error that I received:

    User uploaded file

So I did a little more reading and found that if I install QuickTime it would in itself install the Apple Application Support. I downloaded the latest version of QuickTime and installed it with no problem. Next I installed the iTunes again but then received this error:

    User uploaded file

It's like I'm stuck in this vicious iTunes death spiral, lol.

Any more help or advice you can give me would be most appreciated!

    Thanks, Pat.

What I finally did was download iTunes then unzip it into a folder and then install each item in the folder individually. For some reason that worked. If I would just try to install iTunes for some reason it wouldn't install the Apple Mobile Device Support.

Regardless it's working now and I can sync my phone.

Thank your for all your help, it's much appreciated!
