1. Check the cycle count of the battery against the rated life for your model. The battery may be due for replacement. If the power adapter is connected almost all the time, the battery may need replacing even though the cycle count is not too high.

2. Follow these instructions, or thesefor OS X 10.8 or earlier.

3. In the Energy Saver preference pane, uncheck the box marked

Enable Power Nap while on battery power

if it's shown (it may not be.)

4. You can also try resetting the SMC.

5. Make sure your system is up to date in Software Update.

6. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service center.

HI Linc Davis. Thank u so much for your reply. Here's are the result of the things you have told me to do.

1- The cycle number is 510 now. The health is 83% (every two weeks or so diminishing aprox. 1 percent). The condition says to be ¨Normal¨. I read that the battery of my MBA late 2011 should be consumed with it reaches the 1000 cycle. However, not that the battery itself lasts only 5hours, I plug the computer all the time..

2- I'm just using Safari now and the activity monitor shows a 3.1of energy impact; still, the battery is draining fast. None of the CPU processes is taking more than 70%.

3- ¨Enable power nap while on battery power¨ already unchecked.

4- I already rested the SMC and PRAM settings. No improvement. However, it fixed me overworking fan!! 😀

5- I have the latest software updated as of Dec 16 2014: Yosemite 10.10.1

6- I am out of the US now, unfortunately.

One thing I forgot to say, I dropped the computer last october and the display broke. I bought the original one (South Korea made) from eBay Taiwan and I got it replaced at an apple certified shop. It works fine. At that time I still had the Mavericks OS installed and didn't seem to have the battery issue since the shop didn't tell me any battery issues. A day after I got the computer back with the new display on it, I installed Yosemite and the problems begun. DO you think the display has something to do with it?

I really appreciate your time.

Samuel
