the reason i am restoring my iphone is because i cannot turn on my phone or see my screen. when i try to do this restore it says on itunes that i cannot continue until i eter my passcode on my phone......what do i do?

If I'm understanding you correctly and you never used a passcode before its asking you to create one. Enter a number and continue but don't forget the number or you'll have to restore again. Once you have the phone set up you can disable passcode in settings if you wish.
