Q: Help

I need some help. I have been working on an important project for a month now and am at the final step of burning the project to disc through iDVD. I have successfully burnt projects in the same way a number of times before but this time I continually get the same error message; "Encoding Video - There was an error during movie encoding."

My workflow is as follows; project edited with Final Cut Pro X 10.1.3 duration 1hr 30min. Shared as Apple Devices 1080p / Video codec H.264 / Better Quality / mp4 7.28GB. Project imported into iDVD to create menus with chapter markers; Project Info in screen shoot below;Screen Shot 2014-12-02 at 8.48.52 pm.png

I have tried burning the project as a mp4, then a mv4 and a mov file without success. It would encode the menus but as soon as it got to the movie the error message came up. After reading some forums I followed some suggestions and tried saving as a disc image first. This resulted in getting the burn process a lot further into the menus and also the movie but with about 10% to go up pops the error message once again.

I am running OS X Yosemite 10.10.1.

Please help.

    Sorry I have been away from my computer for a few days but thank you Old Toad for getting back to me. I read through the document and have checked my project, it was recorded in 1080p widescreen 16:9 and I have kept the same settings all the way through.

    The mov file I referred to trying was a recommendation from an old forum I read and gave it a go. I opened the project in Quicktime and exported it as 720p widescreen 16:9 mov but this did not work. The same error message came up.

    Just to let you know I have tried to follow another suggestion to move all chapter marker at least 1 sec away from any transitions but that did not work as well.

    Any other suggestions? I thought the project may be too long because when I tried to save it as disc image it encoded both the menus and the movie it just stop with about 10% to go. I have check the length of projects for the settings I showed in the Project Info screen shot and it is all within the acceptable range. Very frustrating, HELP!!!!

    With the limitations of iDVD it gives you no help to identify the problem so you can fix it so I have been experimenting with different files to to try and figure out the problem myself. I have only got one to work fully which was the Quicktime player export as 720p widescreen 16:9 mov because it did not have chapter markers. I would like to try it with chapter markers, as this is central the reason for creating the disc in the first place, but can not figure out how to export from Quicktime player with the original established chapter markers fro FCPX.

    Can anyone help me????

    Thanks for replying. I have read through both but as I mentioned before I don't think it is the widescreen issues as I have been successful with the Quicktime player export as 720p widescreen 16:9 mov but I think it was because it did not have chapter markers.

    Following you second recommendation I move all my chapter markers to more than 2 seconds from all transitions but this did not work either.

    Do you know if I can export the file through Quicktime player as a mov file with chapter markers?

    I don't know if you can or not.  You can try and then add the resulting movie to a new iDVD project and see if the chapters get created.

    This is exactly what I have done but the chapter markers do not export with the movie and I can not find any options in Quicktime player.

    Does anyone know if Quicktime player can export chapter markers? If so how do you do it?
