I am seeing this error message
"Names longer than 31 characters are not supported on the destination volume."
for the first time (OS 10.10.1) when saving a file as a PDF (from Safari 8.0.2.)
It is really mysterious, but one thing I am narrowing it down to: it happens when I am on MS Outlook webmail (logged into my Office365 account). I do not even have outlook installed on my machine, I'm just using the web-based email. It's happened, then it's gone, then it comes back.
I know I have saved emails as PDFs with long filenames in the last month. No problem.
I went to my Safari home page, save that page as PDF to the same "problem" directory, used a long filename like 123456789012345678901234567890foofoofoofoo
It saved fine. Went back to Outlook web mail, tried saving, no go.
"Names longer than 31 characters are not supported on the destination volume."
Is your issue specific to the Calendar program, or all programs? Was it Apple Calendar or your calendar in Outlook?
Can you open a different app, save some long-filename to the same directory with the trouble?
Also I tried saving the file to the desktop, and that was OK (worked), went back to try and save same file to Documents/directory/X/Y/Z and it failed with error message.
Next I tried firing up Word2011. Created a document with a long filename, saved it, no problem. Tried saving as PDF same directory, no problem.
I wonder if this is MS Office365 glitch?
