iPhone 6 can't forward text messages (iOS 8.1.1)

No in IOS 8.1 you can't forward an individual message to a third party. You used to press down on the message and more would pop up hot that and now you can fwd the message and that is gone. Your solution is about getting texts to Macs etc from none iMessage users vis the phaone acting as a relay

OK.......so how come I was just able to forward an individual message in iOS 8.1.2?

It doesn't say how to request an activation code. How do I do that?

This thread is about how to forward text messages. Does your question have something to do with that? If it doesn't, it would be best if you start a new thread with a clearly defined question.

Right. The link to CNET.com that was posted here as a solution that says after following the steps you should request a new activation code but it fails to mention how you request an activation code.

Also I discovered a different solution that brought back the forward button: if you double tap the home button and close messages, then reopen messenger, the trashcan & forwarding arrow come back.

Or you could press your finger on the individual message. After a second the "COPY, MORE" button will pop up. Select MORE and forward.

Your different solution really worked! That's so odd that Apple made it difficult for iPhone users to find the delete and forward options. But just by simply double tapping (not clicking like I was tempted to do ), and completely closing the text message app and start from home brought back the trash can and arrow at the bottom. Hello - would you explain again how to do this? I.e., what do you mean close the text message app? I wasn't able to tap on a message itself and get to a home screen like you described. Or do you mean to somehow delete Messages and reload the whole app..?

After double tapping the home button while you're open to text messages, the screen goes half way down. After that, press or click the home button to get out of text messages. That takes you back to your home app screen. Go back into your text messages, press and hold anything you want to forward or delete, choose "more" and at the bottom you will see the trash can and arrow options. Hope that helps.

I was having the same issue. No forward option after selecting "More..." on a message, only Delete All and Cancel on the top.

But when I went back into messages and selected "More...", the trash can and forward arrow still did not appear.

However, once I restarted my phone after completing these steps, it finally worked for me. Thanks.

Yes - that solved it for me too. Turning the phone off, then back on. High-tech solution...

exact sequence:

open meesage

press on message and hold

DO NOT PRESS ON ANY HIGHLIGHTED TEXT, I.E AN EMAL OR WEB ADDRESS( it won't work if you do )

copy speak more... Appears

press more

press the curved arrow bottom right

enter the 7726 number for your network I.e 87726 for Vodafone UK or VSPAM

AT THIS POINT WRITE DOWN THE NUMBER THE TEXT CAME FROM, IT GETS OBSCURED IN THE NEXT PART

WIth Vspam in the TO; window press send

press the reply message at the top

enter the number in the message area and press send

yiu will get a recieved message

now delete the spam message

tip, if you send a few messages to Vspam or whatever your network code is you will get stacked replies, when you have finished simply delete the reply you can see in the list and will delete them all
