Gaming on the MacBook

Hey guys I'm considering getting a macbook with 2.0Ghz processor and 2GB of RAM for a little bit of gaming (Half-Life 2 and Unreal Tournament 2004) and I was wondering if any one has some results of a macbook as described earlier playing either of these games in fps. stock macbooks get about 18 but I'm hoping with 2GB of RAM that I can get at least 30+ so can you guys help me out here?

..., Mac OS X (10.4.7), ...

I think you'll get a modest improvement to the FPS, but RAM is not really what powers the FPS - it's the video card. The integrated Intel video card inside the MacBook is not really made for serious gaming.

If you want a Mac laptop for this kind of gaming, consider the MacBook Pro. For example, the 17-inch 2.16 GHz gets 63.1 FPS according to MacWorld.

If price is a concern (when isn't it?), check out the refurbished units at http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/6324003/wo/9U6rh j4cBzdX2deV57Jrhs89GGW/1.0.0.21.1.0.8.7.1.0.1.1. I've purchased a couple refurbed Macs in the past and have never had a problem.
