Hey guys I'm considering getting a macbook with 2.0Ghz processor and 2GB of RAM for a little bit of gaming (Half-Life 2 and Unreal Tournament 2004) and I was wondering if any one has some results of a macbook as described earlier playing either of these games in fps. stock macbooks get about 18 but I'm hoping with 2GB of RAM that I can get at least 30+ so can you guys help me out here?
I think you'll get a modest improvement to the FPS, but RAM is not really what powers the FPS - it's the video card. The integrated Intel video card inside the MacBook is not really made for serious gaming.
If you want a Mac laptop for this kind of gaming, consider the MacBook Pro. For example, the 17-inch 2.16 GHz gets 63.1 FPS according to MacWorld.
If price is a concern (when isn't it?), check out the refurbished units at

I watched a video of some guy playing Half-life 2 on a macbook(2.0Ghz and 2Gb of RAM) and it looked fine and since I figured that integrated graphics use RAM when playing games that the more RAM the better
here's a link to the video

thanks
Actually the Intel Chips have been using MMX/GFX technology ever since the Pentium 1 mmx was released. So that gives a huge boost too your Graphics Performance. I have been playing a lot of 3d games on my macbook, they work fine.
