Removing recent contacts from your iphone

I just got off the phone with Angela at apple support. She told me that the only way to remove recent contacts from an iphone is to do a restore through itunes. her number is *******

Seems that would make the article on selling your iphone useless...

doesnt help. i am on iOS 9.02, and no going back to iOS8 now. That feature was removed by the developers. What a stupid move. I did reset, restore, and even removed all mail addresses and reinstalled them, but this feature is no longer included. I hate my phone. i really do.
