I keep getting this message when attempting ton restore my Samsung SSD on my 2012 MBP. I've got a .dmg image its all my data on it and I'm just trying to get it from my external hardrive to my internal 3rd party SSD. I've looked everywhere, and cant find anything tht helps me out with it. Any help or hints would be very Appreciated. Thanks!

How exactly are you trying to restore? Are you trying to restore the volume while booted from it? That won't work.
I'm using a little Sandisk Cruzer for my bootable drive. I'm trying to get my image file restored on to my internal SSD from my external hardrive. That shouldn't keep it from working should it?
I assume you're trying to restore in Disk Utility. In that case, you would need to have formatted the SSD, and you would select the disk image file—not the mounted disk image—as the source. If you've done all that, the SSD may be malfunctioning. Why do you need to restore it?
Yup, I'm using disk utility. By formatting the SSD, do you mean partitioning it? When selecting the disk image file, I just click on "image" for the source and select the disk image file, the .dmg. I was using an OWC SSD and had the same issue, now I'm trying a Samaking SSD that's getting the same issue.
Yes, partitioning. You should install OS X on the drive if you haven't already done so; otherwise you won't have a Recovery partition. If two different SSD's are malfunctioning, the SATA cablemay bedamaged.
Install it on which drive? Would you be able to jot down the steps for doing so? I would think the SATA cable is alright, because the original HDD works just fine.
Install on the SSD. Download the Yosemite installer from the App Store. Select the destination when prompted.
