Burn DVDs with new iMac Retina?
What is required to enable the burning of DVDs from a new iMac Retina (OS X 10.10.1)? Will an external Super Drive be adequate?
iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2014), OS X Yosemite (10.10.1)

Not quite sure what that means... but I'll give it a try: I need to burn an OPPO firmware update!
The computer already has the burning software included, you only need to buy an external DVD drive. Download the file, right click it and select Burn to disc.
Thanks to all! I thought by Super Drive (which I do have!) was a "read only" device! Anyway, I've successfully burned my first disc on it!
I recommend the DVD / Blu-ray drive below.

For future reference, you can burn data and files to a DVD using the built in capability; however, if you want to burn a movie you've created and have it play on any DVD player, you will need third party software such as Roxio Toast ($$) or a very basic Burn (free).
