external monitor revolution only goes up to 1080p

Hi everyone,

I just get my new monitor Dell U2713hm today, but I am so disappointed that the resolution of the new monitor only goes up to 1080p. The font looks blurry, so I want to adjust it to higher resolution. I have tried to use Dual link + MDP, HDMI + MDP, and MDP to HDMI cable(CONNECT, by Belkin, and it's labelled "4k" on it box). Still, none of them works...

It's so annoying for see blurry things on the screen, please help... Thank you so much!!!

I attach the screen shot to provide more details.

The above picture is showing the profile of my external monitor.

MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.1)

BTW, Dell U2713hm can have resolution up to 2560 x 1440.

Are you using OSX or Windows (or some other OS)? What happens when you Option+Click on Scaled button? Here is an example.

You have an HDMI connection, which may not go any higher than 1080p. The U2713 has a DisplayPort according to

I use http://www.monoprice.com/Product?c_id=102&cp_id=10246&cs_id=1024606&p_id=6007&se q=1&format=2 to connect my Dell U2711 to a TB/miniDP port on the Mac.

As you can see, I get 2560x1440 resolution.

Also checked HDMI at the Dell Link.

Optimal Resolution:

2560 x 1440 at 60 Hz

Our VGA connector can only support up to 2048 x 1152 (Bandwidth Limitation).

Our HDMI is 1.4 is compatible and can support up to 1920 x 1080.
