24 hour clock timestamp in iMessage OS X

I just noticed that in iMessage, delivery and read receipt times are displayed in 12 hour am/pm clock, even though I have setup the system to use a 24 hour clock. I cannot find a setting in iMessage application to change to 24 hour clock. Have I glossed over a setting or is it not possible to use a 24 hour clock in iMessage? Many thanks for your help.

Hi,

Mine reports in 24 hour clock mode.

My wife an I use it when I suddenly get overtime at work and she replies "OK"

As I am sending as SMS and an iPad was linked to the same account I would not see the reply until my iPhone joined the wifi at home (I turn on the computer later).

There may be a little alert type note under the greyed out 24 hour clock setting in System Preferences > Date and Time saying it is being overridden by the Language and Text Settings if you are using a Different region to the Keyboard choice.
