I have an event that's not showing up in FCPX, but it is there in the Finder, along with a CurrentVersion.fcpevent file
The media from this event is not showing as 'missing' (red) in the project, but simply as blank (black) clips, so re-connecting does not work.
How do i get these files back into the project?
I've tried removing the CurrentVersion.fcpevent and re-starting , but no change...

Everything except that event! In the Libraries window under that particular volume there should be an event called 'Creative Futures' but it's not there, neither is it's footage, though it is all quite clearly there in the Finder when I open that volume's Libraries and Events in the Finder
CI lose the app. Right-click om the library and show package contents. Is the event folder there? Is the CurrentVersion file inside it? If it is, then see if you can find a library backup that shows the event.
Yes, it's there in the Finder like I said, including the CurrentVersion, but the only backup file is four months old, and I've done a lot of work on it since then.
Incidentally, the thing that set this off, and which has just happened again, is that often when I switch from working from one volume's Library to another, FCPX hangs whilst trying to load a particular project; I then have to force-quit, remove that project from the Library and start up again.
Sounds like a lot of problems, perhaps connection related by the sound of it. There's really nothing in the backups folder that's less than four months old?
That's very strange about the missing backups. Possibly the folder location in Library Properties was somehow changed along the way? Select the problematic library and then the Modify Settings button to see what backups location is currently set to.

Good call; the backups turned out to be in the Movies folder. Should I set this back to 'Library' or should i be able to simply replace the CurrentVersion from an older backup?
I guess another option might be to re-import the media and replace the files manually...
No. Movies is actually the default location and it's a good place to keep it. Hopefully there will be no need to go into any of the library bundles. Just double-click of the recent backups. The application will open and you'll see the date-stamped library version in the library list. Hopefully, it will have what you're looking for.

Unfortunately, whatever backup I open, virtually all the media from all Events shows as being missing 😟
Back in the most recent version, the 'blank' clips have now changed to being 'missing' clips - but unfortunately, 'Relink files' still shows no missing files to re-link...
Going to have to sleep on this one 'cos it's nearly time to go home, but thanks for all your help, and if you've any more ideas, keep them coming and I'll pick up again Monday.
are you using v10.1 or 10.1.4?
If the media was stored (copied) in a library and its links to the project have been broken, the media will need to be relocated to someplace where FCP can see it. Are the actual clips in the Original Media folder in the library or are there links to external media?

The media has not been moved - it's still sat right there in it's folder in the Library where it's been since it was imported, but it doesn't show in FCPX (10.1.4 btw).
Perhaps I should re-import it?
PPlease confirm that the event appears in the backup.
GO into the original library bundle and move the media out of the event into another folder as Russ said. Open the backup that has the event with the missing clips and then use the relink function to reconnect to the media in the folder outside of the original library bundle.
Yes, the event is in the backup.
The project used files from two events on different drives, so I moved the media into new folders as you described above for both events, and re-linking worked for about 80% of the files.
I've no idea why the others wouldn't re-link, because nothing has been moved at any time, but I can replace these manually, so thanks, that's saved me a lot of work.

When I replace the 'Missing' clips, they do not replace! ***?
The clips play from the Browser, but when i drag them over the missing file and select 'Replace from Start' or whatever, nothing happens! The clip stays missing. This is seriously messed up...
