Epson Stylus CX3800 Won't Connect With Macbook Pro. Help!

Hello, my name is Tobias and I recently bought used Epson Stylus CX3800 series from a friend.

I tried installing it on my Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 but it will not recognize the printer. I have tried to install the driver from Epson website and installed Epson16803.dmg and it goes through all the installation and I have even rebooted couple of times with and without the usb plugged in. Whenever I go to my system preference/ printer&scanner/ + / and find my printer it gives me this message. (Software for this printer isn't available from Apple. Contact the printer's manufacturer for the latest software) Which makes no sense to me because I have just downloaded the driver from Epson, which took about good 20min. Am I missing a step here? If anyone could help me out this would be great so I don't have to sell back this printer. Thank you!
