Genius Bar Fee

So I went to the genius bar and they said to prevent the kernel panics that were happening it would be a good idea to wipe the drive and reinstall the OS. I backed up my system, but I'm wondering whether they'll do it for free or not. If not, does anyone know how much they'll charge to do a clean install?
