Q: Switcher between Mac and PC using 27" Apple Cinema Display
I've been researching mini display port switchers for use between Mac's and PC's. On the Mac side I have a mid 2009 17" MacBook Pro running OS X Yosemite. I am in the process of building an Intel based PC (i7-5820K Haswell-E) with a ASUS X99-Deluxe motherboard. My graphics card is a EVGA GeForce GTX 980. I want to use my 2011 27" Apple Cinema Display to switch between the two computers. I came across an older post discussing a switcher between an iMac and a PC.
At the risk of being redundant I would like to confirm that the recommendation of a CS1942 2-Port USB 2.0 Duel View Mini DisplayPort KVMP Switch will work for my situation as well? In preparation for this I purchased a StarTech 6" DisplayPort to Mini DisplayPort adapter.
I am also using a USB powered Apple Pro Keyboard, Black (one piece of older tech I am holding onto perhaps in vain) Some of my research states that PC's won't recognize Apple keyboards and that I may need to buy a new one if I want to use one keyboard and the switcher. I am understanding this correctly?
Thank You
MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.1)
