How do I create a corporate organization chart

Is there an established format or easy way to create a corporate organizational chart? I created one by "hand" by using text boxes, creating my own "reporting lines" and such. Got to be an easier way. Thanks.

There is draw.io. Build the org chart online, and then locally save in PDF, or multiple image formats. Yes, as you have discovered, you can create Org charts in Pages, but you likely recall some colorful language used in the process, as the application was not designed to facilitate this effort.

Office for Mac 2011 has Smart Charts. Far less gruntwork than Pages.

There is OmniGraffle with a 14-day trial, and App Store pricing between $99 and $199.

Unfortunately, Pages v5 (and derivative releases) is not a business-grade application — in capabilities, or in design intent. Beneath the Yosemite cosmetics, it is not much more of an application now, than it was when released over a year ago. Despite the huge volumes of complaints and suggestions by Pages users in the interim, Apple has shown almost total negligence to usable improvements.
