kernel panic after yosemite update

Remove half the memory modules and test. Then switch and test the other half.

Memory could start to cause problems at any time. If you prefer not to do as I suggest, make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store to have the machine tested.

go back 10.9,yosemite have lots of bugs.

I've had similar problems, however this happens nightly around 3a.m.. Would you have any suggestions? Much appreciated!

I am having the exact same problem and from what I can see we all have the same model year iMac.

My iMac and it was running perfectly until the update for Yosemite last week came in.

Now it reboots for no apparent reason

I can recreate the kernel panic by leaving my computer on and let it go to power save mode. When I return and click my account I enter my password and press enter and then it kernel panics.

My iPhone 6 was having some similar issues but it crashed when I would unlock it or double click to launch the mode where you can flick an app to close it. When you flicked the app to close it (any app I tried apples own apps and third party) but what it was doing was like a runaway train with broken connections to iCloud's and eventually would reboot. The battery used to get really warm so it was in a massive spiral spin.

And something in the iMac log and the IOS iPhone log when the same kinda issue was happening and it's something with iCloud or the macs need to be connected to the mothership at all times. I think in power saving mode the persistent connection to ICloud is broken. I know my home iterate connection seems to loose it's connection with cox when no device is connected or using the connection for a period of time.

If this is all related it would point to something in the wifi or Ethernet device that is causing a connection or maybe even the IP address to be changed or not available and thus causing the mother ship to issue a reboot to her child to try and get her back online.

I am on the hunt for an older version of Yosemite so i can burn it to DVD and boot from that medium while not connected to the Internet. My plan is to force a prior version install and start rolling back.

I thought time machine would work but apparently my time machine sparse-bundle can be viewed and mounted when the Mac is running but under recovery mode using the Efi boot the version of that OS cannot access the time machine file.

Happy Saturday and looks like another fun wasted weekend has been delivered to us early before Xmas.

You are hijacking this thread. Your problem is not the same as it is likely the Symantec crap you have installed. It's only function on a Mac is to cause problems

It's you with the 'tude, but you don't know it. You cram yourself int ebregt's question screaming, "answer my question. I could care less about the original poster."

There's a "New" button at the top of the forums. Learn to use it. There isn't a way to remove it.

ebregt.design doesn't have Symantec installed.

As your TM backups are on a NAS, they are likely useless anyway.

Get an external hard drive and back up you Mac to that. Ddisconnect the NAS and see what happens.
