Actually there are 2 more methods to recover your deleted text messages:

1. Extract from iTunes or iCloud backup

To use this method, you should download an iPhone backup extractor first, and use it to scan the iTunes or downloaded iCloud backups on your computer, preview the found data, and select the text messages that you want to recover to save to your computer or get them back to your device. The biggest advantage of this method is that it won’t do any harm to the current data on your device.

2. Recover directly with iPhone data recovery software

This is always the last solution, if you haven't backed up your iPhone neither with iTunes nor iCloud or the backup files are not the most current. You need only 3 steps: Connect the device, start scan and select the files to recover the texts to a computer or transfer back to the device.

Details about the 2 methods can be found at:

Hi Blasko69,

Thanks for the question. After reviewing your post, it sounds like you need to restore from an iCloud backup. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help you isolate or resolve the issue.

iCloud: Restore or set up your iOS device from iCloud

Restore from an iCloud backup

  1. On your iOS device, go to Settings > General > Software Update. If a newer version of iOS is available, follow the onscreen instructions to download and install it.

  2. Make sure you have a recent backup to restore from.

    • On your iOS 8 device: Go to Settings > iCloud > Storage > Manage Storage, then tap a device listed under Backups to see the date and size of its latest backup.

    • On your iOS 7 device: Go to Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup > Manage Storage, then tap a device listed under Backups to see the date and size of its latest backup.

For information about backing up manually now, see Back up your iOS device to iCloud. If you don’t see a backup you expected to be there, see the Apple Support article If you need help restoring an iCloud backup.

  3. Go to Settings > General > Reset, then tap “Erase all content and settings.”

  4. In the Setup Assistant, proceed to “Set up your device,” tap Restore from a Backup, then sign in to iCloud.

  5. Proceed to “Choose backup,” then choose from a list of available backups in iCloud.

For help deciding which backup to restore from, including information about restoring from another device’s backup, see the Apple Support article If you need help restoring an iCloud backup.

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

Have a nice day,

Have you ever backed up your messages in iTunes?

If so, iPhone Data Recovery can help you to scan your iTunes backup files so that you can get the scanning result of your messages.

If you have no backups available, it can also take a direct scan of your iPhone 5, but it works on condition that your contacts haven't been overwritten by new generated data.

Hope it helps you to retrieve deleted text messages on iPhone.
