I know I removed this icon on previous OS, but when I upgraded to Yosemite, it came back.

Finder > Preferences > General. "Show these items on the desktop:" Hard Disks OFF.

The General in OS Sierra 10.2 doesn't have the boxes to click or unclick desktop icons. Where is that feature now?
