I de-authorized all my computers in itune's View Account page, then Authorize my newly reformated computer.
I'm trying to make a backup of my iphone 5s but it keeps giving me an error that I need to authorize my computer to do so (which it is), I put in my login info into the window prompt and it says that 5 out of 5 authorizations are used.
What is the fix for this? I'm getting pretty tired of Apple's petty and tedious procedures.

From what I can gather, you have run out of devices to authorize with your Apple ID. I have located an article that can help in this situation:

What happens if I run out of authorizations?
If one of your 5 authorizations is on a computer you don't use much anymore, deauthorize it. If you've sold or given away a computer that used one of your 5 authorizations, you'll need to deauthorize all of your computers and then re-authorize each one you still use.

You did not read my post carefully enough. Read it again, please.
I have found the answer. Apparently there is a difference between logging in with my username and my email address, even though they are the same account.
