iPhone 6 internet problems (not just WiFi)

Hi guys, I just got a new iPhone 6 (64 GB) two days ago and have been loving it so far. However a problem has come up that prevents me from using my iPhone normally.

Every few hours or so when I try to use the iPhone, it can't connect to the internet. It has no problem connecting to the Wifi network but there is no internet connection. I realize this is a relatively common problem on iOS 8 but things get a little weirder.

When I disable my wifi to try to connect to the internet via LTE, the phone still has no internet connection. Once it loses the connection to the internet over wifi it loses connection to the internet via cellular data as well. I can still send text messages and send/receive calls.

The only way to get it start working again is to reboot the device. I've tried resetting networking data and disabling WiFi Networking as suggested by a bunch of sources but it does not help.

I'm thinking it might be a problem with my router as its been a little problematic in the past 2 weeks. My mom, who got her iPhone 6 (16 GB) on release day has the same problem but her problem started before I got my phone. My dad, who got the same phone on the same day as my mom, does not have this problem.

Just to clarify, when my phone is connected to my home network but cannot connect to the internet, I can connect to the internet on my other devices (iPad, laptop, game consoles) perfectly fine. And my mom and I do not always lose internet connection at the same time.

So far this has only happened when my phone is coming off of sleep. But I have not used it for an extended amount of time so I can't say with certainty it won't happen while I'm using it.

The wifi bar (or cone, whatever that shape is) is at full 3 bars 99% of the time I'm in my room. However, since the first time I got this phone the bar has been flashing from full to 1 bar to LTE back to full within a period of 1 sec every minute or so. Maybe this has something to do with it?

Can anyone tell me what might be the problem and how I can try to fix it? Thanks in advance!

I fixed mine by resetting all settings

I was having a problem in the morning where my wifi would connect but will not work. This happens when I use data as well. I could also run a wifi test and get the results (12 mb download, 2mb upload) but couldn't get on anything else that requires wifi connectivity such as google chrome. After resetting the network settings, nothing happened and I decided to do a full factory reset (erase all content and settings). This, however, requires internet connectivity because I was forced to enter my iCloud password to remove my iPhone from the account, so that method would not work. I also did a couple hard resets and just plain shutting down and turning back on. These methods didn't work so I attempted to reset all settings to see what will happen. After the reset was completed, wifi connectivity began working again as well as data connectivity immediately.

I hope this works to everyone who reads this because having connected to wifi and data and not having actual connection can be very frustrating.

My iPhone 6, although connected to the internet and a mobile service, did not appear to be receiving any data as nothing would load. I went through my wifi settings and everything looked normal, but then I saw a reply about the correlation between this problem and the use of a VPN. I do regularly use a VPN so I decided to check these settings, and this is where I found my solution to the problem. The VPN I use was rapidly attempting to connect to the server but was unable to due to a server error on their side. This is what caused the connectivity problems. If you use a VPN and are experiencing this problem I suggest you:

1. Try loading google.com and if this doesn't work, proceed to your device settings

2. Check your wifi settings and see if they look normal/how they usually look.

3. Try connecting to google.com from another device such as a computer. If you can't then the problem is probably something not related to your iOS device.

4. Enter your VPN settings and find a VPN connection that may be in use. Tap the i that follows after the name of the connection and turn the setting 'Connect On Demand' off.

5. Go back into the general VPN settings and turn the VPN connection off.

6. Try to connect to the internet... it worked for me!

After restarting my iPhone, turning it on Airplane mode, turning the wifi on and off, and sleeping through the night -
I finally turned off the VPN on my phone. The data and wifi instantly started working again. A bit annoyed that this is the issue. I've used this VPN for two years and sometimes had minor with connecting to the internet, but nothing like this. A quick google search of "Adblock internet connectivity issues" shows that I'm not the only one who has experienced this issue.

its a definite IOS bug, both my home and office Wifi fluctuate and once that happens, iphones internet services are stuck, neither wifi nor 4G works...

only soln is to restart....restarting works without any failure...hope apple guys notice...i am stuck with iphone just because of its support for "USB mass storage" which android has dropped.

First, check your router settings:

If they are ok, set up your phone as new device, as explained in this article, in case your backup data is damaged, start without using the backup.

Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings - Apple Support

If the phone can connect to your Wi-Fi and mobile data network after that, restore from the backup. If the problem comes back, the backup data got damaged and you'll have to start all over again, without using the backup.

I am having the exact same issue as well! I have to reboot the phone to bring the LTE data/WiFi back. I wonder if it's a software or hardware problem? I also attempted the suggestions of resetting networking settings and disabling WiFi Networking and find the same problem comes back within a day or so. It does seem to happen most often when coming out of standby. Oh and mine is a iPhone 6 Plus running iOS 8.1.1.

I also completely restored phone back to factory defaults and setup as a new phone and used it for a while before restoring the backup and it exhibited the exact same behavior!

I've also seen the same quirky behavior from the WiFi indicator where it will jump to 1 bar for a second or less then to LTE then back to full 3 bars. Usually it happens every couple minutes, but at times I don't see it for a longer period of time.

I just wonder if I should setup a Genius appointment at the store or wait for a software update?

I have the same problem too with my iPhone 6. It even happens at office AND at home some times. Different networks and no internet on 4G too anymore??

So much problems with Apple these days. I have been Apple ambasador since 1998, and my explanation was always that Apple is about quality, but I don't see much quality anymore the past years. Apple will lose if they don't focus on quality (and I don't mean the quality finish of their shining products).

I'm having the same exact issue. I just rebooted and now it seems fine. I'm pretty frustrated with the iphone6. I have a 4 for years and loved it. But I've had nothing but problems with this new phone, I have no free space; despite the fact that I have a fraction of the apps and photos I always had on my 4 - I've had the 6 for a MONTH, but cannot update due to no space. I'm unable to update or do much of anything. Now this issue - getting online! I don't have time to scour message boards because of issue after issue and research and fix problems. I KNOW many feel the same way. I need a device that just WORKS. This may be my last iphone.
