Q: iPhone Calling Echo

I'm using Yosemite and am trying to make use of the iPhone calling feature whereby I can place or answer calls from my computer using my iPhone.

Basically, it's pretty much unusable. The other party gets such an appalling echo that at least 50% of my calls I have to drop the connection on the computer and go and pick up the iPhone. Completely defeats the object of being able to do everything from my desktop.

I am using the built-in microphone and speakers on my iMac for audio, I do not want to have to get into wearing a headset. Are there any other settings I can fiddle with in order to either reduce or eliminate the echo that my callers are hearing.

As above, at the moment it's just unusable, and yet another "major" feature that doesn't appear to be ready for prime time...

iBook, OS X Mavericks (10.9)

Same here - although the feature has worked flawlessly a few times, there have been (most times) complaints from the other person of an echo to the point where they cannot hear me (but I can hear them just fine). I have to go pick up the iPhone - in this case it was in other other room (and charging). Really annoying - makes this feature, which was a major consideration when buying my iPhone 6 plus, almost useless. I don't have a home phone (just my iPhone 6 Plus), so this will potentially be a feature I use a great deal. I love the thought of talking on the phone via the speakers/mic on my 27 inch iMac. Sure, I can use speakerphone on the iPhone, but this just defeats the purpose, and is not convenient. I want to be able to answer calls from the phone even if it's in the other room. I have yet to find a solution.  Running OS X Yosemite 10.10.1 (14B25), iMac (27-inch, Late 2012) 2.9 GHz Intel Core i5, and iPhone 6 plus, with the latest version of iOS installed (as of Jan 4, 2015).

If anyone has any ideas, please let me know! Thanks!

i used my iphone 6 and my imac for a year to make these types of calls and it's a feature i can no longer live without.

but i recently installed a new imac and updated to el capitan. i also got an iphone 6s and am running ios 9.x. and now every party i call hears an unbearable and unendurable echo reminiscent of my days as a satellite communications tech when the field was just getting started.

i was going to call apple about this today, but their support has been refusing contact for most of the day. anyone know what's up with that?

    thanks, /guy
