I have a Mac Mini 2006. I need to re install Mac OS X because it is very slow and I want it to have a fresh clean new install. But my Mac doesn't have WIFI and the internet at my house is very slow! I need to download Mac OS X 10.6.8 on my Windows 7 laptop and then send it over to my Mac to reinstall it.

(My understanding:) For Mac before 2011, if you want to do a clean install, you need the original grey CD's that came with the machine. Then to upgrade from there, you will also need the Snow Leopard CDs. If your relative didn't give you the discs when you were given the MacMini, you need to get new ones from apple.
Everything in the previous responses still apply. But I *think* I have read that you can't just start with an erased hard drive and the Snow Leopard CDs, you need the grey discs. But I've read all sorts of stuff on this internet.
My understanding is evolving. Your machine is so old, you have any [Snow] Leopard CDs they should be OK to use for a clean install.
The 10.6.3 retail disks from Apple's Online Store don't work if the Mac originally shipped with a later OS, e.g. 10.6.4 and later.
At least that's my advice for today. One little twist could change things. If you are successful, please report back what worked and give yourself a star.
Don't download it because it will be an illegal copy and more importantly you will likely download malware.
You can't acquire Snow Leopard that way. You need to order the 10.6.3 retail disks from Apple's Online Store, install, and then apply the downloadable 10.6.8 update.
