IN OS 10 where can one find the folder for images that came with email?

I wish to delete the leftover image files to free up drive headroom.

iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10), 6 GB of RAM

I think they are just stored with the email, unless you have put them someplace else. Why not just delete the email?
