How do I erase bookmarks from home screen

I Mistakenly created a couple of bookmark icons on my home screen And I can't get rid of them. Restrictions are off. If I try to erases them like you erase an app. I get the x in the corner. But can't erase the bookmarks or delete any apps. My screen starts flashing on and off and I have to do a hard reset to get out of this"problem" but I can't get rid of the bookmarks or erase any apps. Anyone have any thoughts? Please!

Ah. Another one of us. If you scroll down a bit you'll see some other threads on this problem. I'm taking my iPad into the Apple Store tomorrow to see what they say. I am not optimistic that they will be able to help, it's beginnig yo sound like an iOS 8.1.1 issue.

Where does one access shortcuts that are saved to the home screen? These appear to be Safari shortcuts. What am I missing here?

^^ I mean the above as a question to Diavonex - the forum did not behave as expected. His/her reply addresses how to delete Safari shortcuts stored in the browser. I can not delete shortcuts saved on the home screen. I also can not delete apps. (And I do not refer to the ones that come with the OS.)

Ssettings > Reset > Reset All Settings (this does not delete apps or data) has corrected the problem for me, for now. Then I backed up to my PC before I started putting my settings back in, in case I need to do a full restore again. I hope this stays fixed.

In case you haven't seen my other posts on this, I have found that - in my case - if I have BOLD TYPE turned ON in Settings > Acessibilty that the error persists. The bold type option seems to be the culprit. (Large type is safe)
