Dec 9, 2014 9:07 AM in response to newmediagroupby Roger Wilmut1,Sign into http://appleid/apple.com and when prompted apply the recovery key; see if it lets you in. (Unlike some other services the recovery key is not single use.)

Dec 9, 2014 9:12 AM in response to Roger Wilmut1by newmediagroup,Thank you Roger, but I am never "asked for" my Recovery Key. I simply enter my Apple ID and my password, and then the 4 digit code sent to my iPhone, and I'm in.
Where can I "see" or manually "confirm" my Recovery Key? Are you saying to enter my Recovery Key for my "Password?"

Dec 9, 2014 10:26 AM in response to Roger Wilmut1by newmediagroup,Okay, yes Roger, I understand all this, which I can do, but the 4 digit code sent to my iPhone is NOT the "Recovery Code" which is a long string of characters and numbers similar to an IP address with letters and dashes instead of periods.
I need to test or see my "Recovery Code."
Thank you for your patience.

Dec 9, 2014 12:30 PM in response to newmediagroupby Roger Wilmut1,You are not going to actually see your Recovery Code anywhere except where you wrote it down when you were given it - that's the whole point.
Click the link I highlighted above and enter the key:
If you want to you can get a new recovery key:
- Go to My Apple ID.
- Select Manage your Apple ID and sign in with your password and trusted device.
- Select Password and Security.
- Under Recovery Key, select Replace Lost Key.
When you create a new key, your old Recovery Key is no longer usable.

Dec 9, 2014 1:51 PM in response to Roger Wilmut1by newmediagroup,Thank you Roger. I ended up calling Apple and they told me just to generate a new Recovery Key which I did. Now I know for sure the new key number and will file it away in all the appropriate places.
Thank you for your help and patience,
John

Jun 6, 2016 2:45 PM in response to Roger Wilmut1by newbie forever,Roger - I used the steps you outlined in this post to try and get a new recovery key for an original iPad. The recovery key option is no longer available. Yet, the iPad continues to insist I must have a recovery key to get logged in to my apple services. What can I do to generate a new recovery key since I do not have the old one.
All help is greatly appreciated.
Many thanks!

Jun 6, 2016 3:02 PM in response to newbie foreverby Roger Wilmut1,Go to http://appleid.apple.com on a computer and sign in. You will need to get a verification code sent to your trusted device. Then click 'edit' in the Security section:
This will expand the section and you will see a link to get a new Recovery Key:

Jun 6, 2016 3:27 PM in response to Roger Wilmut1by newbie forever,Roger - For whatever reason our apple ID pages are layed out different. On my page, I do not have the recovery key option under the "Security" heading. My trusted Devices are listed separately and outside of the "Security" section as their own stand alone section. I've gone through every section and there is no option for a Recovery Key. One more thing, I do have two factor verification ON.
Any idea on what to do next?
Many thanks!

Jun 7, 2016 11:23 AM in response to LACAllenby newbie forever,Okay. We are on the same page. I have 2 Factor Authentication On and my security options look like yours. The issue is I can't get my iPad 1st generation to stop asking for a recovery key to activate apple services. The iPad will not accept my password with the 6 digit verification code. Instead, it asks for the Recovery Key number. So the options as I see it are: 1) get a recovery key number regenerated since I do not have the original recovery key number or 2) find a workaround so the iPad accepts the password. Either way, I need help and I am open to all suggestions
Many thanks!
