Q: After restore, most desired app won't load.

First I backed up my old iPhone 3G and then did Restore iPhone to unlock it.

Next: Restore from Backup and some apps failed to repopulate.

The apps have obviously been updated over the years, needing iOS 7, but this iPhone is stuck at 4.2.1

Can I get this app back?

Thanks!

OOKay so I now realize apps are not part of the "restore from backup" deal.

Still, any chance I can get an older version of this app to work on my old iPhone that is now basically an iPod touch?

I hear your pain....   Now that I have an iPhone 6, I am unable to manage backups on my 3G.   All my old 3G apps have been replaced by the newer iOS 8 versions....  which will not load back onto my 3G.

At one point iTunes offered to install older versions of purchased apps that would work on my 3G.

This is scary...   I'm afraid to back up the 3G now.

Why does Apple assume my 3G is absolete?   It still works well as an iPod.   I just wish I could keep my old apps without fear.

Heck,  I'm still using my old iPod Mini with the Click Wheel.

An update...  My final solution is to maintain an update free sync of my 3G phones on an old mac.   I make sure to disconnect it from the internet when I use iTunes to make sure I don't update the application libraries.

Remember when iTunes used to offer to upload the appropriate version of the app for your phone?
