You may find this interesting. Answer the following questions honestly to yourself:

Is your iPhone in a HARD PLASTIC/RUBBER case?

    Did you recently drop it?

Do you "jam" it into your tight pockets [*bendgate* related]?

OR did you put it into your backpack/bag with heavy items around it [Again *bendgate* related]?

Did you follow all of Apple's recommended Support Documents? If it still did not work for you than maybe our "fix" may help. . .

What we had found interesting in 4 cases was that all of the situations above, because of the thin nature of the iPhone 6, the SIM card had barely contact with the pins on the board after it was dropped or after being bent in a hardshell case or *tight* pockets. What we had done in our shop was two "solutions":

1st solution: Using the thinnest packing tape [Packing tape because it is the most adhesive] cut a square about the size of the SIM and put it on the back of the SIM. Reinserted into the iPhone the problem never came back.

2nd solution: If the phone was dropped AND it was in a hard shell case we first turn off the iPhone. CAREFULLY, put two popsicle sticks at the top and bottom under the iPhone laid flat on the table, glass side up. Then directly above the SIMcard slot GENTLY push/nudge down several time on the iPhone. Careful not to bend it too much [*bendgate* related]. Then restart the phone. The error should go away.

So far we are 4 for 4 in fixing this error. BUT YMMV. If this helps GREAT! If not I wish you luck because we were lucky so far.

    ~ Cheers!

I've been having the same problem so I tried putting a small square of strapping tape on the back of the SIM card, as suggested....worked like a charm! Thanks so much!

THANK YOU SO MUCH! one tiny tiny push on the iPhone and it's reading the SIM again. It was in my handbag and I guess got banged around. I restarted it 10 times, removed the SIM, nothing helped. That little push over two very flat kitchen knives did the trick.
