How do you rename a folder on your desktop

I'm new to the iMac, but it doesn'nt seem like it should be this difficult. When I right click on a folder, shouldn't there be an option to rename it? I'm not able to rename web pages that I have on my desktop either. Please help. Thanks.

Click once on the folder to select it, then click on the name and an edit box should appear around the name. Type the new name and then click on the folder to save the change.

Hey polished,

There are several ways of renaming a file/folder. Perhaps you remember how in Windows F2 would give you the ability to change names, and ENTER/RETURN would execute/open the file?

Well in Mac OS X, you'll notice that pressing ENTER or RETURN will actually allow you to rename the file. You should hit ⌘+O in order to open a file/folder in Mac OS X.

Another option is to use the Inspector (are they still calling it that? All you have to do is right click the folder like you have been, and hit "Get Info." This will allow you to change names of files/folders.
