RAM Dock Problem

I had been doing a bunch of research on the discussions site as to why my RAM had been working sporadically when I discovered the RAM dock exchange program for certain powerbook models. The symptoms they talk about are exactly the same as what is happening to me. The only problem is that my powerbook is exempt from the exchange. I have a 1.33 ghz 15" powerbook G4. Does anybody know if there is an exchange program for this model or am I going to have to pay for this myself?

Are you referring to the lower memory slot issue? (I searched Apples site and Googled 'RAM dock exchange' and couldn't find anything). If so, unless your system is covered by the Apple memory slot repair program, you can either put a 1GB RAM strip into the working slot or pay for a new logic board. A number of people have chosen the lesser expensive route of using 1GB instead of paying for a new logic board.

I'm actually going through this myself. We thought it was a bad card (which was true) so I bought a 1gb card because I needed the upgrade anyway and he ordered a replacement 512mb for me. I put the 1gb in the lower slot and it worked for about 3 hours and then the panic screen came up. I took it out and placed it in the upper slot and it worked fine for 2 days. I went to pick up the 512 today and when he put it in, the slot didn't read it. My computer wasn't on the list, but he is replacing it anyway since it's under warrenty. I'd take it to an Apple store and let them mess with it. If they agree something is wrong they might do the same thing. Otherwise it would've been $961.56 according to the reciept I got.
