jpg won't load in text message

I have the iPhone 5c. Up until a few days ago, I had no problem viewing pictures sent via text (not iMessage). Now, when I go back to picture messages that were sent last week, all I see is a box with a blue question mark in it. I've tried updating, closing out apps, restarting the phone but nothing has fixed the issue. I received a picture message 2 days ago and I can still view that one with no problem. It was sent by the same person from the same phone as the other pictures that I can no longer see. I haven't changed any settings on my phone so I just can't figure out why the older pictures are suddenly not loading. Also, if I press on the box with the question mark, the More button pops up but my only option is to delete. The arrow for forwarding is gray.
