Monitor "Not HDCP compliant" when viewing Netflix from Safari, but runs fine in Chrome

I've been watching Netflix on my MacBook Air with a Philips 244e external monitor. It has worked flawlessly in the past.

Recently I upgraded to Yosemite, and this is the first time I've tried to view Netflix on my laptop since then. I got this error message:

"

Whoops, something went wrong...

Display Error

There appears to be a display problem. Please ensure your monitor is HDCP compliant and is not mirrored using Airplay.

Error Code: S7363-1266-48444350

I disconnected the monitor and it runs on my Airbook screen.

I reconnected the monitor and loaded netflix in Chrome. It runs without a problem.

It appears that there's some issue with Safari and my Philips 244e monitor, or with my "dongle" that connects the 15-pin d-sub connector to the external display port on my mac.

Any suggestions about what to do?

I have this exact same problem. Just Google the error code and you will see it all over the internet. Netflix works fine under Firefox but not under Safari and I had been using Safari exclusively for Netflix with the same two monitors (23" HD Cinema and a new Samsung plasma TV).

The Apple 8.0.2 upgrade for Safari that came out today (12/12) did not fix the problem.

I have exactly the same problem, exactly the same conditions. Second monitor (using the Airbook screen to get work done while watching Netflix on the alternate monitor, very naughty), only began after upgrading to Yosemite.

A remedy suggested elsewhere--Safari preferences, > security > Internet plugins > website settings > Silverlight > allow did not work.

Started up Firefox (for the first time) and was told Silverlight wasn't up to date. I was given a link to click to update...worked. Netflix now works, using Firefox, on the second monitor.

But not with Safari. Bug appears to be (1) when a second monitor is used, (2) related to Silverlight, (3) peculiar to Safari, and (4) new with Yosemite.

Apple folk? What say?
