Q: Iphone iOS 8.1.2 battery drain remains

Hi!

As I have been seeking for a solution to my iPhone 5s battery drain problem after iOS 8 install, I have to note that today, after all of the updates the battery life remains non existent.

Battery drain in only half a day without light use, everything turned off, and not a single app installed. And the most surprising part that battery drains overnight, without use, on a airplane mode.

In the battery usage window the things I see:

  1. 65 % Phone (low signal)
  2. 17 % Home & Lock Screen
  3. 14 % Settings
  4. 4 % Messages

What has been done?

  • Did many fresh installs of software from update (itunes and iCloud)
  • Fresh install setting as new phone
  • Fresh install, setting as a new phone and creating new apple id;
  • Settings are set up to save every percent of the battery (including no WIFI, and no cellular data). So at this point my iphone is just a phone to ring.

Did not see any improvement over the updates iOS 8.0.2, iOS 8.1.1

I would be so appreciative for your further support in solving this question.

Me and some Friends have the same issue, when we update from 8.1.1 to 8.1.2 the battery of iPhone Drain and the temperatura of the cellphone up, some times i have to take Out of my pocket, it is very sad because Apple does not have a serious quality control for updates, It only remains to wait for an early solution (another update ) and pray for an update that doesn't make that my iPhone explote in my face.

    This is so true.

I completely lost my faith in finding a solution in the setting or modifying behaviour - the phone still does not hold any charge. So my solution is to wait for another rumoured iOS 8.1.3 update and hope it will fix this drawback.

Until then, the phone is not usable - 5 hours of iphone work with low activity is not acceptable, am I right?

I waited a bit to update to 8.1.2.  Apparently not long enough.  5s/64GB.  Same issue: never had a problem with the battery draining before.  Now, it is sucked dry...down to 36%...from 100% overnight...with all apps closed and no use.  I have to check it all the time now.   I guess I'll just tether it from now on--carry the charger with me.  So much for convenience and mobility.  Reminds me of the phones years ago that were plugged in the wall--I thought we got rid of the cords!   Ridiculous.

I found a solution.....went to my local mobile operator who sold me the phone, still under warranty they replaced it with a new phone.  So without admitting there is something wrong they simply replaced it.  Now without even opening it, iam putting it for sale on ebay, and i already bought a new iphone 6 plus

...this time i will not do the mistake of upgrading to a new ios before researching well.

Now ios looks more like android than a closed well guarded garden, very unstable and very buggy.

my recommendation is dont wait for next upgrade, try replace it with apple

It seems to be serious problem and it won't be solved in the short term. Have you guys considered to degrade the system?

I bought an iphone 6 plus, because it should have great battery life. But what do I get? Trash. I am surfing the web for 1-2 minutes with cellular and I loose 1% for every or every second minute. Thats with 8.1.1. I updated to 8.1.2 and nothing changes. People were talking about at least about 10 hours battery life with heavy use. I dont even get 7 with light use and everything turned off! I have to worry about getting through the hole day with the 6 plus. Thats inacceptable. Apple you have to change that or I gotta change my phone

I Bought the iPhone 6 which had the iOS 8.1.0 when I got it and I will not touch it until I see my old iPhone fix itself with a new update.

so everyone who can read this and are about to buy a new iphone, DO NOT UPDATE TO IOS 8.1.1 OR 8.1.2

iphone 5s used to last full 24 hours between charges.  Now my phone is dead after 8 hours just on standby since the IOS 8.1.2 update.  Please apple let us downgrade to ios 8.1.1 until you fix this problem with ios 8.1.3.

On my iPhone 6 Plus here and I'm noticing a battery drain. I have 8.1.2 installed. I believe 8.1.2 is at fault here. Actually I had a great battery life when I was at 8.0 but each update, battery life gets worse and worse on each update from what I have experienced. No my battery is not defective because it's reading at 3000 MAH.

I used to get about 45 minutes of usage before it drops from 100% to 99% and now I only get about 30 minutes of usage or less then in drops to 99%. This is very annoying because I'm used to the 45 minute usage before it drops. I've even gone as far as factory restore and setting up as "New" and still does it. I think Apple Pay is culprit here too because prior to adding my card, I can get about 45 minutes, but after adding my card to apple pay it is random.

Just for the records and for the sake of Apple knowing it: same problem here.

    Iphone 5s 64Gb.

Battery used to last 2 days on iOS 7

On iOS8 I'm on a day and sometimes I cannot reach the end of the day; same use.

I'd say that however iOS 8 looks nice, the updates are definitely not worth the halving of my battery life.

I have an Iphone 4s, which is a little old, but was working perfectly until I made the IOS upgrade. The same problem:

    - Battery drains in half a day.

    - Cellphone warms up a lot in the pocket.

The main problem: Apple doesn´t let you downgrade while they fix this issue.

    OK guys.

BIG news on the problem we are having together.

A little pre-story first. I could not handle having the phone and having to be careful walking out of home and not having connection. I was so tired of this unnecessary problem!

So i started using my old iphone 4, which remarcably holds power for 48 h. But last night I came to a conclusion that the update of 8.1.3 we are so eager to get might not be that soon as i thought (I was expecting it on January 6th), so i decided to get iOS 8.2 beta 3.

The decision was made due to the idea in another forum, that someone had the same issue which disappeared after installing that particular beta. So I did it too.

The result is THE SAME. I can not hold my words anymore. What the ****?!

And this rises so many questions like whether this problem will consist in the future updates?
