How can i remove Apple TV ads from youtube? It's really annoying! I want my old apple TV youtube BACK!

I don't think Apple had a choice in the matter. Google sets the terms of service for programs. When Apple negotiated to have YouTube on ATV it was agreed to be ad free (Google didn't like it but wanted eyeballs). As YouTube grew, Google set the terms as ad-free for certain content but certain content was not supported which is why you could see some YouTube content on the web but not on ATV. I suspect that Google's requirement for the upgrade is that intrusive ads be included.

How to work around it? If you have an iDevice, get a third party youtube player (I have McTube) and airplay the videos from there to your ATV. It is a tradeoff as in some respects it isn't as convenient but in some respects it is more convenient. For example, searching for videos is easier as is selecting from the search results. It is less convenient as you always have to remember to airplay the video which can be convoluted sometimes.

TThe new YouTube shows in the corner as the ad starts to click your Apple TV control on the right of the circle control to skip ad.

I Too find this very annoying. why is it, that each new update tends to make things worse? Do they not to any end user testing?

Besides the annoying ads (yeah I know wait for a few seconds, then skip it. But why should I have to?), they restructured the layout after you've watched a video. You used to see a list related videos. And, because it was in single column you could see more than the new graphics. Maybe I will get used to it?

The most annoying new f'eature' is what happens when you press the Pause button. A large chunk graphic with 'Resume' on it overlaying the image. Well guess why I pause videos? It's either because I want to study the current frame, or as in the case just now, some text was scrolling by so fast I couldn't read it. So I press Pause and now most of the text is covered up!

Really Apple?

If there's a way of fixing this, it would be great. in the meantime I guess I'd better turn off auto updates.

in a previous post about my disappointment with the IOS8 udpdate I commenTed I should get me a Samsung tablet. Well i did. The new 8.4" model very nice. Time to start shopping for an ATV replacement. Too bad, because of all the ones I've tried, I've always preferred the ATV.

Ooooh. I found an easy workaround for the annoying Pause pop up.

When the video is paused, just leave it until the timeout period expires and you get your screen saver (that's how mine us setup).

Press any button on the remote and the video reappears, paused sans Pause pop up. Nothing to it.

Good time for a bit of exercise and or a bathroom break.
