Did you create your book using iBooks Author? Such books cannot be read on iPhones, only iPads and Macs.

That's just dumb! All devices for all things! It's just like the Eienstein that figured iPads didnt need a calculator, compass, the weather (really?), passbook, or stocks. Wake up Apple!

To create a book for all devices, you need to do it in .epub format. The apple app for that is Pages.
