home folder missing

I'm check the box for "show home folder" in view options; but it still doesn't show up.

It has worked fine on other systems running mavericks.

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Yosemite (10.10.1), 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7 w/ 16GB RAM
