Q: Apple Pay not working after 8.1.1 and 8.1.2 update

This happened when I updated to iOS 8.1.1 and now it happened this morning after updating to iOS 8.1.2. I'm using an iPhone 6 64GB.

The credit card terminal and the iPhone 6 don't see each other. I always unlock my iPhone and go into Passbook to use Apple Pay. I

don't rely on the phone waking up from the locked screen to use Apple Pay.

When this happened the first time I went to 2 other stores and had the same problem. I have used Apple Pay in this same store before

with no problems.

After the 8.1.1 update I tried the following:

1. Turned my iPhone off then back on after about a minute.

2. I did a "hard" reboot.

3. I completely reset the phone and restore from my last backup.

I guess I'll do a complete reset and restore tonight when I get home from work tonight.

iPhone 6, iOS 8.1.2

i also ran into the same issue. I just thought of restoring my phone today and since then I can't add any of my cards to my apple pay passbook app. Its just saying to try later or contact card issuer.

Like I said above after 8.1.1 I erased the phone and did a complete restore. I had to re-do my credit cards but Apple Pay

    worked again.

In my case, it's not working now. I restored my phone as new but still it doesn't let me add cards.

Would you clarify what you did? I could not get ApplePay to work today at a Subway but they admit to software issues with their terminal.

So if ApplePay does not work at say Walgreens are you talking about completely erasing the iP6 then doing a complete restore with passwords from iTunes? If so, is it the case that the only thing you had to redo was adding credit cards to ApplePay?

Well I updated the cell modem firmware, I have AT&T, on Saturday. I tried to use Apple Pay in a store I have used it before and again it

did not work. It appears to me that anytime I update firmware, 8.1 to 8.1.1 to 8.1.2 and the cell modem firmware, for some reason it messes

    up Apple Pay.

I am going to erase the phone completely tonight when I get home and restore from my last backup. This is what I have done in the past

but this is getting to be a real pain.

Ok I spent an hour on the phone with 1st and 2nd level Tech Support at Apple. The one thing I didn't try was to just delete my credit card from Passbook

and then re-load them. That's what Apple Tech Support suggested. That was the trick. I deleted the cards in Passbook and re-loaded them and it worked like a champ.

I guess since the cards showed in Passbook and looked OK I felt that they weren't the problem. No need to erase the phone and restore the phone.

I restored my phone as new when updating to 8.1.2.  Now I can't add any of my cards back to passbook.  Passbook keeps telling me to try later or contact card issuer.

I never had any problems reloading my credit cards after restoring my phone. The only thing I can think of is to make sure you can connect to the internet. Passbook has to out and verify your card and either send you a code to put in or you have to call your card company to have finalize the Apple Pay verification process.

I do have "Location Services" turned for Passbook but I don't know if that would affect lick your card to Passbook if "Location Services" is turned off.

Here is the Apple procedure to setup and use Apple Pay. Maybe this will helo:

Set up and use Apple Pay - Apple Support
