Q: Can't download/install apps from Mac App Store

When I click "Get" and "Install App," nothing happens after that, no prompt for the Apple ID password appears. I have downloaded apps before with no problem. I have already tried clearing the App Store cache, cookies, and preference files, and resetting the PRAM, with no success.

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

I'm going to the Apple Store today or as soon as they have an open time slot, and ask them to download it onto my USB drive.

My iMac is a late 2009 / early 2010 model. iMac's from 2007 onward are listed as compatible with Yosemite. Here's the website:

    http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201475

But this is not really here nor there as the problem is not being able to download anything from the App Store. iTunes is fine as reported by many others on many other forums with this exact problem. The problem is ONLY with using the App Store on 10.8.6. Let's stop derailing the topic.

I made an appointment for tonight at the Genius Bar at the nearest Apple Store and taking my 27" iMac there for them to do the install. I don't want to risk driving 25 miles each way to possibly realize the USB method doesn't work. I don't want to wait for Apple to fix this as they haven't even responded in a clear way to any of the people on this forum. There are a lot of Holiday specials on some software I need which require more recent OSX versions. I don't want to risk losing out on those as who knows when this might be fixed.

There are folks reporting that neither app works from Snow Leopard.

Apple isn't here. Apple doesn't answer questions here. This is a user to user tech support forum. Participants here are Mac users volunteering to offer help in areas in which they have experience.

Everything shows up for my account not my friends. I never even had to enter my pass word nor his. It's shows all my info not his.

My MacBook works great with the new os too. Happy I made the move. Also I've been able to purchase apps and updates all under my account and user name

You are missing the point. You are currently at 10.10.1, what I am saying will happen will be when you try to update to 10.10.2

Are you just looking for an argument?

Yes it does. Because if there is a signature key that would require me to sign using my friends log in credentials  to updat osx it would require the same for all app purchases and updates that follow. I very already updated Yosemite as well.

Yosemite has various apps that are built into the system that have updated which would also require this sign in as your suggesting and non have.

No, it doesn't work that way. The apps that you download using your Mac App Store account are not affected by to whose account the installed OS is licensed.

I very already updated Yosemite as well.

    Explain please.

Yosemite has various apps that are built into the system that have updated which would also require this sign in as your suggesting and non have.

What apps do you think are tied to the installation of OS X that you believe have individual updates that you have installed?

I'm not arguing to argue. I have offered information that someone else has stated is wrong, that I don't know of which I speak and for others to ignore my information. I have been in this forum from the day it opened. I have experience with the Mac App Store and the software available for download since the MAS was beta software. I occasionally get things wrong, but that is discovered and remedied by asking questions and getting explanations. You are making claims here with regard to the MAS which I think are inaccurate or in error, however when I have now asked you to explain what you mean in your statements, you turn tail and run. So be it, have a good night.

Yes, decades. I have used Macs since ...

If I could, I would do it.

But as an owner of a mac-mini and a MBP (both intelcoreduo - 2006) I cannot do what I have always did, that's to say enjoying new OSX and fully exploiting the potential of these wonderful machines.

Positively, these macs are still long-way better than many of "modern" Asus or whatsoever winzozz running machine.

On the other side it will be crazy to dump both these computers.

The only thing I might do is to change the logic board mounting one that support Lion (the cost is around 30 USD, as far as I can remember).

What I am really ****** off is that I have been charged three times 1.98euro for I don't know what (retyping the cc number? trying to download app that couldn't be installed because the store is not working on  my machine? ....)
