Dec 12, 2014 6:54 AM in response to markkawasakijapanby King_Penguin,You updated the primary email address on the account, you didn't create a new account, and you've tried logging out and back into your account to see if the balance then shows, and you've checked your account's purchase history (e.g. did you have any pre-orders and/or auto-renewing subscriptions that might have taken it) : See your purchase history in the iTunes Store ?
If logging out and back in doesn't work then try contacting iTunes Support and see if they can help with where it went (these are user-to-user forums) : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page
