Connecting Dell u2715h Monitor to Macbook Pro Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013

Hi,

I bought the same monitor. I will receive it next week, but i read some blogs about the best alternatives for getting the 2560x1440 and my first option will be connecting my macbook pro retina 13' using the thunderbolt (mini-display port) to the mini-display port available in the monitor.

I'm planning using this cable:

This is what I'm planning to do. Note that I don't know if it works! I think so, but I don't know. I will tell you if it works next week.

If you have a mini-display port to display port cable it should work too.

Small update:

There is a mini-dp to dp cable within the monitor box. You should be able to use that too (I already had the mini-dp to mini-dp cable).

How is the AG coating? Does text appear sharp? I have an asus monitor and the text is really bad (due to the AG coating) when I connect to my MacBook Pro 15 retina

After a few weeks, the monitors looks clear and the text appears sharp.

Unfortunately, the text appear too small at 2560x1440... :-(

After reading a lot of posts, i didn't find a way for activating HiDPI for that resolution...

I'm still working on that...

I have the same Dell U2715H and MacBook Pro 15", mid 2015.

IT works with the Dell DP to miniDP cable, but the issue that I got is that the DP 1.2 has to be disable from monitor menu.

Despite DP 1.1 the resolution is maximum available at 60Hz.

It also work via HDMI cable.

Do not forget to select the correct input from the display menu.

I just recently got this monitor and noticed a very odd behavior. Basically, the monitor will only connect to my Macbook Pro (Mid 2012) if I reboot the machine. If I turn the monitor off and back on while the mac is up or unplug the port, the monitor enters power save mode and won't display an image - even though the laptop is showing the background of my second screen.

Has anyone seen this that can offer any help? I am using the mini-display port to display port cable as well. Thank you.

The problem of small text on Dell U2715H seems to occurs only with macbook pro having retina display. This may help you:

I also have the same problem. The monitor has problems waking up from sleep mode, and sometimes the monitor flickers.

I tried many things to solve the problem, but it did not help.

- I tried the following cables: miniDP to DP, HDMI.

- I tried enabling/disabling DDC/CI.

- I tried enabling/disabling DP 1.2

The only durable solution is to reboot the laptop, and not let the screen ever go to sleep mode!!!!!

This is slightly related to this question, so I'm going to post here.

We have someone that has a newer Macbook with this monitor, connected via Thunderbolt. He wants to connect the USB keyboard to the monitor, so the Macbook can be set aside. Now, with a regular Apple Display, USB will route over the Thunderbolt connection. But with the Dell, this doesn't appear to be the case. At least, when the keyboard is plugged in to the Dell Monitor USB, it's not recognized by the Macbook.

I'm wondering if I need to get a USB extension from the Macbook to the Dell Monitor, which seems counter intuitive to how it works with a regular Apple display.
