One more time......I didn't get it.

Try turning off any Safari extensions as it's likely something is incompatible with the update.

Actually, my computer is completely frozen now and that is not possible. This all stemmed from the most recent safari update and my computer has now basically stopped working altogether. It erased all of my files and pictures and its stuck thinking and it won't properly close safari, reseting does not work, all my files and stuff are still missing and it automatically opens safari in my windows that were open when my computer stopped working.

More than likely you have installed some form of Malware, genio is causing all kinds of problems with Safari right now. Download and run AdwareMedic to check for and remove it http://www.adwaremedic.com/index.php

First, note that you are not talking to Apple, you're just talking to other Mac users.

Second, the update didn't kill your Mac. It's highly likely that you have some kind of bad third-party software that is causing the problem. If you are able to start up in safe mode, as Loner T suggested, but the problems come back as soon as you reboot normally, then the problem is due to some kind of third-party software that you have installed. The trick will be figuring out what that is and how to get rid of it... that becomes more difficult if the machine is freezing up except in safe mode. It may be easier to simply erase the hard drive and reinstall everything from scratch, being more careful about what third-party software you reinstall.

It is possible that you may have some kind of adware that is at least contributing to the problem, as Mike indicates. Genieo in particular is causing a lot of problems right now, although primarily just with Safari. If the entire system is freezing, it's less likely that adware is solely responsible.

If starting up in safe mode doesn't help, it's likely that you have a more serious problem, such as a dying hard drive. This could explain data that you say has been "erased."

Finally, note that backing up your data is your responsibility. If you do not have backups of the data that was erased, that is nobody's fault but your own. At this point, if the data seems to be gone and is not backed up, you need to shut down the machine immediately and not turn it back on until you are ready to attempt file recovery. This can be done with a tool like Data Rescue 3.

First of all, I thought that I was speaking to Apple, so I apologize for that. And second of all it was the update, since this its my school computer the only third party apps on here are Microsoft Word related so it isn't that. I don't even watch or download movies on it. The only other possibility is that is was from updating my iphone6+ on my mac the day before the safari update, but everything started instantly after the safari update. After updating, my safari kept crashing and freezing on simple pages like yahoo, and no it wasn't our internet. The first time i reset my computer, after it froze, my desktop icons were rearranged, moved, and some of my stuff was just gone or deleted. A couple of days later it froze up, so I restarted it and this time it removed all my files and user info from the computer and kept restarting with the safari page it froze on open, even if I selected not to open the previous session, and if I tried to close or force quit safari the computer would become stuck thinking with the little color wheel instead of the pointer. The safe boot finally worked, but I am still missing files and pics from after the initial update crash that rearranged my desktop and removed items. Updates that could potentially disable computers shouldn't be released during college finals weeks, especially when so many students use their software, the planning was absolutely horrible and someone should be replaced there.

The update is not your issue then.

After updating, my safari kept crashing and freezing on simple pages like yahoo, and no it wasn't our internet.

This is where the problem should have been investigated first.

Is this your personal Mac, or is it managed by your University? For example, in Safe Mode, did you check who has Administrative access to your laptop, other than you?

That is a bold statement to make without a proper root cause and knowing what actually caused it. If Safari did not work properly after the update, did you try a different browser, say Firefox to figure out if the Update caused problems. Did you try clearing Safari history and website data to narrow it down to it being Safari, or your cache, cookies, etc. - http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203353

You seem dead-set on placing blame rather than exploring possibilities that don't match up with your preconceptions. Since the machine worked in safe mode, that means it was NOT the update. However, if you're not willing to listen to that kind of advice, we won't be able to help you. In that case, whatever caused the problem will likely remain a mystery. Unless your hard drive is failing, in which case it's a mystery that will soon solve itself in a very bad way.
