Synology / iTunes Server can't be seen in iTunes application

Hi,

I have a Synology NAS, which is capable of acting as an iTunes server. I've indexed a directory with a few songs.

When I open up my iTunes on my Mac, I can't see it.

What's really interesting is that I can get it to work, if I open iTunes holding down the alt-key, then create a new local iTunes library on my machine.

The iTunes server share from my NAS then shows up perfectly. But I miss everything that's in my original local iTunes library.

However, when I close the iTunes application on my Mac, restart it and switch back to my original library, I can't see the iTunes server.

So I assume that there's something messed up with my local machine's iTunes settings.

I don't want to switch libraries all the time and would like to see the NAS iTunes server from my original library.

How do I achieve this - if possible without rebuilding the whole library (and loosing a bunch of stuff & lots of time on the way)?

Thanks,

M.
