Dec 13, 2014 12:20 PM in response to shyamala14by Linc Davis,★HelpfulIf you only back up once every few weeks, then you are eventually going to lose a few weeks worth of work. If that's unacceptable, then your backup strategy is unacceptable too.

Before I upgraded to Yosemite, the Time Machine icon on the top bar would pop with messages to remind me it's been so many days since my last backup and then an exclamation mark would be in the place of the hour and minute hand in the icon.
Now, it's stopped reminding me to backup

Dec 13, 2014 1:53 PM in response to shyamala14by frazzm737,After installing Yosemite, my computer failed to remind me, but once I did a backup, it now reminds me every ten days. I assume that the reminders don't kick in till after you have done one backup to your external drive, then it gives ten day reminders.

Dec 13, 2014 11:17 PM in response to frazzm737by shyamala14,I have backed up three times since I have installed Yosemite, and the reminders still haven't popped up. In the scheme of things, it's not a big deal. I was just wondering why it stopped reminding me.

Apr 14, 2015 10:05 AM in response to shyamala14by musiu1,Now 4 months later & I still have not found a way to restore the reminder for BU that time machine once did faithfully. Yes, BU reminder failed after update to Yosemite. I use My Passport model WDBLU & Western Digital could not supply either. It appears only solution is a Reminder or use of Calendar.
Surprising that Apple did not address this question directly instead of ignoring the situation.
Any comments? Musiu1

Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.
Or you can use your Apple ID to register with this site and go the Apple BugReporter. Supposedly you will get an answer if you submit feedback.
